Vector 2: A procedurally generated environment to test your reflexes

One could hardly call this game a slow or un-dynamic game. It is mildly comparable to the first game, but there are a series of differences. You are supposed to run through the environment and dodge the obstacles and traps. It takes a keen eye and swift reflexes. The camera is also zoomed out enough so that you may plan what you are going to in advance. You see the obstacles coming as you run, which means you are able to plot your tactics and set up your dodge moves.

A 2D running game that pushes you to be better

It is difficult to play at first, but once you get the hang of it, you will be jumping, flipping and sliding your way to victory. Learn new stunts as you run through the environment. It is a 2D platform game in essence, but the graphics have improved from the era of the GameBoy. Compared to the first one, you have to admit that the traps are a little more intimidating and the sound effects are more advanced. One major difference is that the game is missing a chaser. In other words, there is nothing chasing you. Some people think this is a good thing because it takes the pressure off so that they may concentrate on their dodge moves. Other people think that the lack of a chaser makes the game less fun and less addictive. If there is nothing chasing you, then there is no threat. That is true, but the challenge comes from skipping over and dodging the traps.

Learn new moves to progress

In Vector 2, you get to run with high-tech equipment to help you get through your run. Run for your life to get out of the research facility, while learning new dodges and moves to get you out. You run along a two dimensional route. You are a shadow person, in that your runner has no detail. Many of the platforms are cast in shadow too. There is a story within the game, but it is no more or less compelling than the story from the first Vector game; there is nothing ground-breaking with regards to storyline in Vector 2. There are no new animations, which is okay if you were a big fan of the first game. It almost feels like an expansion pack with a slightly different storyline, new gear and new dodge techniques.

A shadow cast upon a background

There are no new animations, and much of the material from the first game has been placed into this one. Some people are less than impressed with the loading times, especially since it is a game you play on your phone. By the time it has loaded, some people have finished on the toilet or have to go back to work. Nevertheless, the graphics have a slight improvement over the first game. If you have seen the trailer, then you will know what to expect. The game is not graphically sophisticated. Much of what you see is in shadow, and the player himself is a black shadow person with no features. As two-dimensional running games go, the graphics are not terrible.

Before you download Vector 2, you should look at the trailers to see what the gameplay is like. If you are expecting a graphically sophisticated game, or an app with complex gameplay, then you may be disappointed. If you liked the first Vector, you are probably going to love this one. It offers a unique challenge where timing, your reflexes, and your ability to learn are tested. If you want a merciless challenge, you should download Vector 2.
